Doll House Project
THE DOLL HOUSE CORPORATION
IN OUR HOUSE WE RAISE GIRLS TO BECOME THEIR OWN SUPER SHEROS
MyDoll*MyCaree™️ is a Creative Arts Career Development Project. The project is designed to accomplish a career path in girls ages 8-18. Participants will choose a career doll and create vision boards, paintings and poetry based on these careers.
Each participant will keep a journal of their work.
Our goal is to have the participants creations displayed as unique museum pieces in the community. This will further enhance their feelings of inner worth and importance in their communities.
The Doll House family will follow and guide the girls from now until high school graduation and help them stay on their career path. *Consistent attendance is required.
Project 1 Overview
WhySelf-esteem Programs?: Self-esteem is yourself that you love, care for and feel proud of. When girls believe they are valuable and important, they take good care of themselves. They make good decisions about themselves which enhance their value rather than break it down.
Dolls: When you see a doll, it’s such a wonderful reminder of your beauty. Somebody took the time to make a doll in your likeness.
Journals: Journals provide a space for written reflection, coloring, painting and photography. " To find out who you really are, not who everyone else thinks, but who YOU think you are. To find out what you really like, and discover how to rely on happiness from within. That will give you tools for personal empowerment.
Poetry: The act of creating poetry is a way to grow emotionally and intellectually, as language articulates and frames experience symbolically. ... Poetry provides a cultural context and expressive model that supports openness and emotional honesty. People who write poetry feel listened to and not judge.
Painting/Art: – Boosts creativity – Whether the painting is abstract or realistic, minimalist or chaotic, paintings are modes of artistic expression. Abstract art requires the artist to create interesting, non-traditional pieces while realistic art requires the artist to come up with imaginative ways to make the image come to life. Artists yearn to be innovative, to create – or even recreate – something with a personal touch, a new flair that reveals one’s deepest expressions and motivations.
Non-verbal communication skills- Painting inspires you to communicate your deepest thoughts and feelings – even those that you may not be able to express verbally – through your art. They say a picture is worth a 1,000 words and communicating what those words may be – whether they reflect current worldwide events or personal happenstance – being able to communicate on a nonverbal level can serve as a healthy release of emotion.
Safe Space: It is imperative that we create a physically and emotionally safe environment where the participants feel safe to share their feeling and ideas. Maintaining confidentiality, trust, and openness between participants and facilitators through dedication, consistency, and active listening will help establish this environment. We offer a unique atmosphere of spa ambiance during our projects. Aroma therapy, soft music, color & light are used to relax the participants and make them feel special, beautiful and honored as girls. Encouraging quotes will surround the working environment.
Positive interactions: Girls love and care for their dolls so we want girls to interact with dolls and each other to help build positive social relationships within groups. We want girls to respect their peers and themselves.
Special events: Fashion show extravaganzas and Tea Parties are always with dolls. These events teach the girls courage and to show their diversity of beauty. The Doll House Corporation is a non-profit 501C3 organization and our services are free. These events are fundraisers for the organization.
